SUDAN POLITICAL ALERT: The Enough Project – A Modernized US Policy for Sudan
12/9/19: The Enough Project – A Modernized US Policy for Sudan
The Sentry, a team of policy analysts who track the financing of war criminals in Africa as part of the Enough Project, call for the US to strengthen Sudanese reformers by placing economic and diplomatic pressure to dismantle Sudan’s “kleptocratic system.”
The Sentry call for:
· Targeted sanctions against the networks of corrupt officials, including their associated companies and international and domestic partners, particularly those linked to the RSF.
· For the US Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to issue a public anti-money laundering advisory warning financial institutions of the risks associated with Politically Exposed Persons involved in significant acts of corruption in Sudan.
· For the US Department of the Treasury to require US companies investing in Sudan to report publicly on due diligence conducted with respect to anti-corruption, human rights, and direct business with the military.
