29/9/19: Sudan Tribune - Al-Nur renews rejection to join Sudan’s peace process after meeting Hamdok
Sudan Tribune reports that Abdel Wahid al-Nur, leader of the rebel Sudan Liberation Movement, has reiterated his refusal to join Sudan’s peace negotiations, saying that he does not recognize the transitional government, or the Constitutional Declaration upon which it was established.
Al-Nur reiterated that the transitional government must first disband government militias, compensate for conflict-affected civilians and return land grabbed under al-Bashir’s regime, as well as handing him over to the International Criminal Court.
The Sudanese government says that resolving conflict in Sudan’s peripheries is its top priority, but the SLM’s view is that change must occur in Khartoum first. Al-Nur has called for a referendum on the transitional constitution and its institutions.
