AFP reports that Sudan’s cabinet has scrapped the public order law, which resulted in women being flogged, fined and jailed during Omar al-Bashir’s rule.
"Some policemen were using this law to harass women," said Mohamed al-Amin, who is also a defence lawyer for al-Bashir. "What we need is to precisely define under article 152 the dress code for women,” he added.
