15/7/19: AFP - Shock and anger as videos of brutal Sudan raid belatedly go viral
AFP’s feature piece reports on Sudanese “shocked” by the videos and photographs documenting the June 3 massacre.
"The aim of blocking the internet was to hide information and evidence,”said Hussein Hashim, a student. "It is the right of every citizen to know the real information so that he can form his own views," Hashim added.
A Facebook page has been created to document images of the massacre, with users calling for the Rapid Support Forces militia to be held accountable. Although RSF leader Himedti says the photos are “fabricated,” some activists believe that the RSF has helped videos go viral in a bid to intimidate protesters.
An anonymous male protester said “the horrific scenes will give us a bigger motive to fight for the rights of the martyrs," and anonymous female said “they want to intimidate women, but we will not be afraid and will continue to participate in protests.”
