Sudan Tribune reports that the SPLM-N faction of Abdel Aziz el-Hilu said its “not concerned” with peace framework agreement on South Kordofan and the Blue Nile states, signed by the government and the SPLM-N faction of Malik Agar.
Talks between the government and SPLM-N al-Hilu remain deadlocked over the faction’s demands for a secular state. The government says the issue should be left to a constitutional conference the SPLM-N al-Hilu fation says it has to be settled at the peace negotiating table.
The spokesman for the government negotiation team Mohamed al-Taishi said that the government made five proposals to the al-Hilu group on the matter, but a consensus was not reached.
