 Reuters reports that Himedti has voiced his enthusiasm for democratic elections in front of an audience of tribal leaders and senior diplomats on Saturday, while seeking to deflect blame for violence in Khartoum this week.

 “Democracy is consultation ... that’s it, we want real democracy,” Himedti said. “We want a man who comes in through the ballot box ... we want free and fair elections” he said.

 Himedti also said that those responsible for shootings at demonstrations last week, have been arrested and confessed on camera. The article notes that the Himedti’s RSF paramilitary troops have been accused of the shootings.
