 As the military shows few signs of compromise in meeting protest leaders demands, Walsh argues that Darfuris have reason to be worried, citing the fact that the same generals who ousted Omar Al Bashir are "unapologetic" about their role in the Darfur war.

 Ayoub Omar, the Darfuri student forced to confess that he was part of a group trained by Israel during a failed propaganda attempt to scapegoat Darfuris for the protests, said that Himedti must be held accountable.

 The article notes the solidarity that Arab Sudanese showed towards Darfuris during the aforementioned failed scapegoating attempt, although the prejudice that motivated the Darfur conflict remains deep-rooted, according to Iether Ibrahim, a half-Darfuri doctor in Khartoum.
